| Another reference to the lights at Dukes Avenue. A traffic survey done by Hounslow showed that 95% of vehicles turning into Dukes Ave from CHR were rat-running through the area, mainly as a short cut to the A4, and also to Sutton Court Rd, avoiding the lights at Heathfield Terrace. If the rat-running was prevented through some strategically placed barriers and other traffic restrictions, the volume of traffic using the junction would likely be reduced to the extent that traffic lights at the junction would not be needed. Dukes Avenue would be like all the other residential streets off Chiswick High Rd that don't have traffic lights because traffic using the street is for access only, and there isn't the volume of traffic created by rat runners using a through route. The traffic lights at Dukes Ave are another example of inconvenience for pedestrians and cyclists for the convenience of drivers. |
