Given that the French Pro14 could probably field a team of English players that might beat the current England team, I don't think it is too much to call this a crisis. Christopher Holland seems to have made progress with Worcester, but the return of London Irish and Wasps looks stalled. The latter appears to be stymied by Holland also being their principal investor. The game in this country is at a crossroads, it needs to accept it is a second tier league behind the URC and the Pro 14 and allow overseas based players to represent England or it needs to fast track the return of Irish and Wasps and build a financial structure that attracts world class players including English ones. |
