The plans for Holland Park roundabout are cycle specific lights to get onto the roundabout at both west and east sides and a track through the middle. It isn't "partial segregation" - it is complete segregation. Compare this with the existing situation which either involves cycling with the rest of the traffic and hoping a driver won't change lane without looking. Or, taking a long detour to the south or north of the roundabout and using the pedestrian crossings and cycling on the pavement (legally...) before finding somewhere to rejoin the road. There can be no question the proposed design is a hugely better than the current situation. The borough boundary is in the roundabout so I hope that K&C will at least not block this major improvement. |
