It's not just that we're contracting (or even flatlining, which is what the OBR predict for the *next* quarter), but we're contracting when we should be growing at 3% a year that's the real story here. The realisation over the last month shows that even a completely supportive press and supine BBC can't hide this forever. There was a serious economic problem to fix in May 2010, but it wasn't the deficit, it was the structure of our entire economy. You don't cure arsenic poisoning by giving the patient arsenic. |
