There is a difference between being opposed to the German and French Governments on a particular issue such as the proposed European Fiscal Union and being anti-German or anti-French. It is precisely because I am pro-German,pro-French and pro-European that I am opposed to the profoundly undemocratic European Fiscal Union. The euro is already doomed and the European Fiscal Union proposed last week is a classic case of too little, too late and shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic also comes to mind. The German and French Governments are not synonymous with the German and French people as Merkel and Sarkozy will find out in due course. |
