"Utterly wrongheaded miscomparison in the following respects:" The point was that the Humber Bridge, like many others is a toll bridge regardless of funding for its construction, so I think my comparison is correct in all other respects, regardless whether the structure is steel/concrete or all steel. Incidentally, it is possible to cross the Humber Bridge for free. All one has to do is live in North Lincolnshire and be visiting a relative in Hull Prison. Perhaps this dispensation could be applied to visitors to Wormwood Scrubs! An alternative funding method could be by public subscription - a collection box at each end of the stairway. This would truly indicate the need for additional change of level machinery. Possibly a better facility at Greenford station would be the contruction of lavatories as found at adjacent Underground stations; this has the advantage of not being so noticeable if out of use. More to the point: what visitors to the 2012 Olympics are going to use Greenford Station? |
