| You must be confusing Greenford station with some other. The station and the locality in which it lies is busy from early morning till late at night every day of the year. Comparatively few punters interchange with the FGW branch trains because the service is so sparse and unreliable (though extremely useful when it does run); but HORDES of punters interchange with the local buses (not surprisingly, since apart from anything else this is the only serious railhead for the much larger central Greenford a mile or more away), and/or walk to/from their shifts in the nearby industrial estates / bizparks; quite apart from local residents (which inclide huge numbers of parents with young children or babies, and many elderly and/or mobility-impaired people) in this large and heavily populated hinterland. The 'indefinite' cancellation of essential lift provision at this and other stations - but particularly at this one in view of its exceptional height above ground level, and the dangerously MESMERISING long straight staircases which all exiting punters are forced to use - is thus an OUTRAGE. Your comment about 'platform to nowhere' is thus as misplaced as your deliberately provocative trotting out of the old sneer re the Humber Bridge, which I'll do my best to refrain from discussing on this thread. |
