As said I'll ignore your misplaced and ill-founded comments on the Humber Bridge for the purposes of this thread topic, much though I'd like to get stuck in. Re Greenford station and its punters, sorry but you're just confirming you don't understand the local situation, populationwise or accesswise, and which I happen to know pretty well. Apart from anything else the three other stations you cite are nowhere near as much below the ground and street level as Greenford station is above it; and those long straight downward staircases at Greenford are, as I said (and as local punters confirm) mesmerisingly dangerous, even for the young and fit, and even walking down at moderate pace. Not that I'd oppose installation of lifts at other stations such as those three - far from it, I'd advocate it. So yet more reasons to stop pouring money into Xrail, scrap the project and spend the money more sensibly on such facilities throughout the existing network. |
