| What happened to fixing social care? That was promised by the Conservatives. We have a growing elderly population and many are cared for by family who have had to give up their jobs (and therefore paying tax going towards their pensions and their own saving for their own retirement). Many of these are also past retirement age. There is a huge shortage of carers partly because of the poor pay - many don't get paid for travelling between clients which they are supposed to be. We have youngsters who leave school without learning how to make a cup of tea or make a sandwich - or how to work as a team and with no idea how to present themselves for employment. |
