| "If by some chance the application is accepted it will take decades to get back in" There is no doubt that if the UK was to become a full member of the EU again we would have to accept things that we were previously able to opt out of, such as having to replace sterling with the euro. The EU should have shown more flexibility in negotiations - the ideal arrangement would be to have an inner and outer core of membership - the latter could work for the UK, Norway and Switzerland if it could be set up primarily as a trade agreement without the supranational nonsense that made our membership so toxic. |
