"So have all these bus stop bypasses got zebra crossings, across the cycle lane that's between them and the nearest pavement?" The one near Duke Road (stop SS) has the zebra stripes. When I last looked, the other two were laid out with tactile paving leading to where the zebras would be, but the stripes weren't yet in place. Of course, with the cycleway not yet open, bus passengers are getting used to just walking across it, not necessarily at the zebras. It would be better, I reckon, if the cycleway had a coloured surface so that it was clear that it wasn't just another slice of tarmac that could be walked across. The cycleway plans do show some short sections near junctions with a blue or buff surface (it depends which plan you're looking at). I think the areas near bus stops should have a coloured surface, and ideally the entire cycleway. |
