Quick question - were floating bus stops envisaged in the original CS9/CW9 plans. As someone who doesn't have particuarly strong views on cycle lanes (I would summarise my views as being that I think cycle lanes are a good idea and desirable if they can be accommodated and are safe to use and that some car drivers are self entitled and unwilling to give up all the cards that until very recently were stacked in their favour) it strikes me that these floating bus islands are an accident waiting to happen without a significant mind set change among pedestrians, cyclists and bus users. PS I am not saying that there aren't cyclists who are self entitled, there is plenty of evidence on this forum of the views of both self entitled car drivers and cyclists. Oh, and I think all road users should obey the rules in place ... pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and any one else. And I think Hounslow have ball-sed the implementation of some of the schemes and have been underhand at times. Phew! |
