Edward VII wasn't the only Prince of Wales to visit the area either. In 1925ish a new Prince of Wales (the future King George VI) visited Dukes Meadows with his Dad...King George V...to open the new Civil Service Sports Ground. A cricket match with a New Zealand touring team took place at some point. And the future King George VI's grandmother? ALEXANDRA of course! |
