Whilst living in Chiswick House... the Prince and Princess of Wales (Alexandra from Denmark) would have been familiar with area. I recall visiting Strand on the Green Junior School on the occasion of yheir 100th anniversary... and was invited to look at the School's historical Log Book. It showed that the children had a day off in 1903 to watch King Edward and Queen ALEXANDRA pass in procession down Chiswick High Road on their way to open the new Kew Bridge! Officially the bridge is called King Edward VII is it not. Hail Alexandra locally! |
