How very interesting, Bernard. The names used for the A316 between the Hogarth roundabout and the M3 I find odd, confusing even. There are 11 separately named sections: one section is called Chertsey Road and two sections several miles apart are called Great Chertsey Road. A few weeks ago I had cause to dial 999. I didn't know the postcode but I was able to say "A316 Great Chertsey Road" quite unaware at the time that there were two sections so far apart. It would appear there is very good reason to change the Chiswick part of Great Chertsey Road back to Alexandra Avenue in order to avoid the obvious confusion. |
