Oh, it's the Alexandra Avenue mystery yet again! James, you've raised this before, in 2015 and 2018. There is some evidence (from maps) that this stretch of Great Chertsey Road was once called Alexandra Avenue. It has no properties fronting the road, and hence no postcodes. The name now exists only in the bus stops on both sides of the road. Someone has raised a report today with Hounslow Highways about the new sign, but I doubt if they will do anything as the road on their map and the Ordnance Survey map is Great Chertsey Road. I guess you would need to contact Hounslow Council or TfL in order to get the name changed, but why do you want to do that? What benefit would there be, and is it worth the confusion that would occur if the change is made to this short section of Great Chertsey Road? |
