Agreed Mark is entitled to his opinion but his figures are off. £20/head and 50% margin at a cafe. Not sure what decade that math is from but in 2017 we have folks working for hours on a laptop for the price of a cup of tea. And they balk at paying a service charge or when asked to move so someone can sit and eat. As for attempting to sharpen pencils in the event an increase comes, I asked the council if it were possible to have a 6-month license only for warmer months. No can do. That would mean starting from scratch each and every time opening ourselves to consultation. Given how vociferous the community can be, and the fact the council jumps at every comment made, that option is too risky. I would think there is some savings in simply cutting back in investigating every single complaint. |
