waste incineration is controversial and there are many claims that it is polluting and toxic to health there is an article on letsrecycle.com about a study of the heslth impacts being delayed again afterbeing due to report in March 2014 needless to say, there is a lot of money being made and big contracts changing hands when i looked into this, i thought the story of Denmark illustrated the issues well, Denmark, after having anumber of municipal waste incineration plants has embarked since 2013 on a strategy called 'without wSte, reccycle more, incinerate less' the lessons learnt were that the waste burning plants had to be fed toa certain level of capacity, to run profitably, so recycling, as we know it, had to decline to feed the hungry plants hence, in my opinion, we are committed via the WLWA authority to dohble our residual, non recycled waste and that is ladies and gents, why we have massive wheelie bins of 140 (or 240 litres if ordered from council) does it all make more sense now ? part 3 to follow |
