It is a same size fits all scheme for increasing recycling to meet EU requirements by limiting the amount that we can throw away so that we will therefore recycle more. In some cases it may work but in others, when the bin is full, the rest will go next to litter bins, trees, on street corners or on a common, including recycling containers in black sacks which can all too often be seen This is for the whole borough, not just Chiswick. Those of us who are making full use of the recycling containers have very little to put in a bin. LBH say that if we opt out with a bin we must take our black sacks to Space Way but it's too far. Maybe Stirling Road is too! We would rather have a roll of addressed sacks for scanning knowing that there would be nothing in them that shouldn't be. Fair enough? Yes there would still be dumping but overall there would be far fewer black sacks and with investigation and nasty fines the message would get through, as it needs to now. |
