'I'm struggling to understand the annoyance here.' Andrew, you may not agree with it, but I think it's a touch disingenuous of you to say you're 'struggling to understand' it. Whatever the result next Thursday, there's going to be an enormous amount of upheaval affecting those of us south of the border as well as Scotland, our MPs are offering Scots a list of expensive bribes to vote no, and yet we have no say in any of it and are not consulted in any way. To add insult to injury, Miliband exhorts us to fly the Saltire to show solidarity with the Scots. Personally, I do not fly the flag of St. George or the Union Jack over my home, so I'm damned if I'm going to fly the flag of a place I don't live in just to ingratiate myself with its inhabitants. Salmond, meanwhile, conducts a campaign of sneering, insults, half-truths and lies directed at those of us south of the border. I think we have every right to be annoyed - he is a very annoying little man. If the Scots vote for independence, so be it, but you can hardly expect us to view the verdict with smiling equanimity. |
