It is concept of a conservation AREA that is daft. If people feel that strongly about the P&T then they could have asked English Heritage to list that individual building which would have had a far stronger, as I understand it, preservation implication. However EH would not have recommended listing because the P&T does not seem to meet their criteria of an important building. https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/caring/listing/listed-buildings/how-do-buildings-become-listed/ If you look at other buildings on the High Road that are listed you get a flavour for the quality required. |
