I knew I should have stuck with the relevant planning legislative definition of a Conservation Area, which is "of special architectural or historic interest, the character and appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance" Obviously the issues are very subjective, but this particular stretch of CHR just doesn't tick the boxes in my view. Essentially CA status means that any planning proposals should preserve or enhance the character and appearance of the Conservation Area, although obviously that's just one of a number of considerations any application needs to be determined against. |
