Sadly Andy you're right about considerate cyclists being few and far between. Cycling through red lights is a real pet hate of mine, as is cycling on the pavement. Or riding two abreast, which is referred to in the Highway Code as being okay, but which to me is completely unnecessary and unhelpful to other road users. My only real pet hate with drivers is when they'll overtake me and then almost immediately have to stop/slow down for queuing traffic, but they conveniently forget I'm just behind them and position their vehicle tight against the kerb forcing me to either wait or overtake them. It baffles me, when I'm driving if I overtake a cyclist and then have to almost immediately stop for queuing traffic I make sure I still leave a gap on my inside for the cyclist to pass me again. PS - I'm no angel mind, over the years I've twice got penalty points for driving at 40 in a 30 zone, as I used to have a bad habit of accelerating up to 40 when I saw a 40 zone approaching in the distance, rather than waiting until the 30mph zone had actually ended. |
