Stephen, I have read the Economist for many years and it has been consistently Europhile, advocating British membership of the euro and supporting every major EU treaty. In recent times, seeing the collapse of the euro, the inherent contradictions within the eurozone and the inability of the EU political nomenklatura to solve the very serious economic and social problems caused by the euro, the Economist has moved towards a more sceptical, Eurorealist position. In this respect it is beginning to recognise the great failure of the euro project. |
