"England is never allowed a referendum on anything" Parts of England have been - that is why we have a Mayor of London. It was notable that one of the bright ideas during the time that Lord Prescott of the Bus Lane was rampaging around in Whitehall was to set up regional authorities in England, something the Brussels bureaucrats also seemed keen on - if I recall rightly they had a referendum in the North-East and roundly rejected the idea. |
