Boris didn't resign for breaking the law though. He resigned after a report into whether he'd deliberately misled parliament ( over breaking the law) was released. If he's admitted breaking the law beforehand then he might well have survived, and the public purse would have been at least £245k better off ( the cost of lawyers acting for Boris Johnson's during the enquiry). I myself wasn't of the opinion that he should have resigned over the parties in Downing Street, it wasn't a good look of course, but he should have fessed up when the overwhelming evidence appeared, rather than dragging it out. Angela Rayner may well go after the Ethics Advisor has concluded his report and if she does, it will be because she deserves to go. |
