The average wage in the UK for 20-29 year olds is £32,292 so the claim made that Amazon pay good wages to drivers,£25-26k is put into perspective. It is not a good wage and I have often wonered why, through housing benefit and other low income benefits, tax payers are expected to provide these top ups which allow huge companies like Amazon to pay such poor wages to most staff. They do this because they know other workers will have to subsidise their workers. It is a ludricrous situation, unfair to taxpayers and benefits only shareholders and higher management of those companies. |
