Hasn't the issue with the combining of storm water and foul water discharge being combined in much of London's housing been more or less resolved by the Thames Tideway Tunnel? These combined sewers are probably better for the river as most untreated storm water, which still could contain contaminants, is not being flushed into the river. The problem in Strand on the Green specifically seems that some properties may have never been connected to the sewerage system and designed to discharge foul water directly into storm drains which flow into the river. |
