"can someone explain how the construction of the supersewer could ever have been expected to clean up the water flowing past Strand on the Green" At times of excess rainfall, sewage was pumped into the river to stop the system being overwhelmed. At least one of the points of discharge was up river of Strand on the Green at Kew and that hasn't been used to pump foul water into the river since last October. This means that the water around Strand on the Green should be cleaner but it isn't. |
