All well and good if the infrastructure is in place to take two discharges (surface water and waste matter). In most cases it is not and both simply merge into a single sewer. It would cost billions to dig up every road and install a seperate sewer for each. Billions that Thams Water had but chose to give to shareholders rather than invest in delivering a service. No wonder then that Londoners pay more for water then residents of, as examples, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Barcelona (four picked at random from www.waternewseurope.com) |
