In that case ALL connections have to be to a sewer and not the river. This is why the Super Sewer has been constructed to massively reduce the possibility of overflow spillage into the Thames. Unfortunately when you deregulate on a large scale you reduce the control of non-compliant drainage (fewer inspections etc). Even surface water from roads will contaminate the river. You can't even guarantee that someone will not park their camper van and empty their toilet tank into a surface water drain and contaminate the river. |
