| Dare I say it but it is impossible to discuss issues to do with resources for the Police or local authorities without some reference to funding, a point made by the Police and also by Sam Hearn. Sam had made various points about Labour controlled Hounslow and in the circumstances I do not think it unreasonable for Ruth to also make a political point. I still think it strange that there were no Council officers attending. I assume they were invited but maybe not? At one stage in the evening a member of the audience did ask if there was anyone from the Council, I think they meant elected representatives rather than officers, but maybe they also were not invited? The point being that it is normal for the Police to work with Councils and it is the local authority that manages lighting and usually CCTV. In the past Ealing and I think Hounslow have funded additional Police as well. |
