| "You may not like it Adam but there is a process to be followed which allows the plans of any developer to be scrutinised and commented on by the general public." Yes of course there is, it's called the statutory notification process and why wouldn't I like it ? - I'm an independent planning consultant, I work on behalf of individuals and organisations objecting to development proposals. My point is simple and of course it's a factual one - if a third party tries to go down the JR route (which they are perfectly entitled to do, although there's very clear parameters as to what a JR can be sought on) then that stops development in its tracks because until that challenge has been thrown out the whole permission is at risk. So no development could even commence, forget any notion of the flats being sold. So that causes delay and uncertainty - again that's a fact. Whether it was significant or largely irrelevant in contributing to the situation this part of the High Road now finds itself in is something neither you or I can say with any degree of certainty, but what we can say with certainty is it can't have helped. And I'm not making excuses for anyone, I'm speaking as a expert in the field and as a local resident, and merely pointing out the factually correct position that the actions of a minority of residents in this regard can't have helped matters. |
