| Yes, Valentina is in a different building from Empire House - it's next door - and has a different owner. We, as the Chiswick Shops Task Force (Cllrs Patrick Barr of Chiswick Homefields ward, Gabriella Giles of Chiswick Riverside ward and me of Turnham Green ward) contacted Lendlease and had a reply - within hours - agreeing to meet us and to tidy up the units and the car park behind (which they did and will continue to do). The result of the meeting is that the units are being marketed for temporary let. We've heard from a couple of locals who are interested in finding out more. Lendlease is marketing it, too, and has said they will liaise with us about potential tenants to avoid clashes with nearby businesses - which is crucial. The point is to encourage more people to this part of the High Road to support existing independent businesses (such as the excellent Wild Bunch cafe whose owners live in Turnham Green ward; Daniel Beds; and BYC Hot Yoga which is above what was Valentina) and any new businesses that take up the short let option. If anyone is interested in renting one of the units, do get in touch with us and we'll pass on their details to Lendlease. We really do want to fill the units and revitalise this part of the High Road. We are doing more behind the scenes to support our local independent businesses - they are what makes Chiswick different and we need them to succeed - and you'll hear more as we make progress. |
