Thanks for the contributions. I'm suprised. I think only 2 posters out of 12 seemed to be opposed to nuclear expansion. I was expecting more. I'd like to see: - Much more effort on conservation; I think there would have to be tax incentives and subsidy by government to make it happen. - Solar (PV) energy development for the longer term. Large mechanical systems like wind farms, wave and tidal sytems seem environmentally intrusive and expensive to build and maintain. - A large increase in nuclear capacity starting now - Storage systems to even out demand, like the one David mentioned and one near Snowdon which pump water up a mountain off-peak and release it again for peak hour hydro-electicity. |
