I suppose there is no disagreement in that the manufacturing has died in Thatcher area, the trade and industry went down −38.2% and never recovered, despite GDP rising +23%, in 80ties, (as shown on the wiki pages). An example of Germany shows well in London that the biggest banks are actually German banks which do not pay tax in UK and they offshore for services outside UK for services. So we do not talk about positive effect in London/UK, of German economy. No disagreement here... As far I recall, there was no a single global product created in Europe, in the last 50 years, unless I missed something, so not only there is no manufacturing nor there is an invention that goes with it. All down to news which come from the US I am afraid. An exception is the mobile phone from Nokia ??? not sure .. ups sorry it was Motorola in '73 |
