Yes, we will be entitled to benefit, at least those who are entitled to it, with means testing many may not be entitled to very much. The government, as a previous post said, is always careful to sress that living longer is 'a good thing'. But as has been raised above, living longer in poverty is not a happy prospect if you are not in the best of health and feel the cold, like to communicate with others once in a while etc. The pensions of the people who died before retirement go back to the pension companies largely and of course the state no longer has to pay out. A post above mentioned they hope we never get assisted suicide here. I disagree, I would far rather have it under my control than have some hospital decide to kill me of starvation or thirst by withdrawing food and water which is done now, perfectly legally and quite frequently. I can't understand why there is not an outcry about this routine practice which is barbaric. |
