"A lot of conservative thinking only makes sense in the short term and in does lead to bigger differences between rich and poor, the educated and under educated and the healthy and those in need of care." Really? After 11 years of socialism, we now have even significantly more failing schools, amongst the worst levels of educational achievement in the developed worlds, average wait times for NHS patients have increased from 40 to 49 days and public health is at all time low, with life expectancy now falling in some parts of the UK and to cap it all the richest members of society paying less tax now as a proportion of income than they were in 1997. Maybe you should take the blinkers off and take a good hard look at the UK now before telling is that life was worse under the conservatives. Judging by tomorrow's opinion polls (see Sunday Times - Labour now 16 points behind), many people don't share your rose tinted view of socialist Britain - including many of my friends who have emigrated in recent years taking their talents and capital with them. |
