Mike Russell at 22.43 on 4/12/07: "Well, 22.37 and an airliner has just passed north of my house heading for LHR. About 100-200 metres north of the junction of South Parade and St Albans Avenue. It'll be interesting to see of WebTrak manages to pick that one up." WebTrak certainly did show that flight. It was BD015, a BMI Airbus A319 from Glasgow due to land at 22:40, which came in over Watford and Dollis Hill, then turned right over Willesden to pass over Wormwood Scrubs and Acton Park. I've tracked its path over Chiswick and Brentford on my map of the runway paths (below). The 200 metre mismatch between the eventual path over Osterley and the runway line may be largely a WebTrak map alignment error. Taking that into account it was probably about 500 metres laterally from Mike's house. There were no other landing aircraft at the time, hence the decision, probably taken before it reached Watford, to take it in by a shorter route. |
