| Diane, you find it hard to understand people's benign dislike of this man. I'll restrict my thoughts to just mention his habitual manipulation of statistics and spin to suit his vision on road traffic and congestion, housing and a host of other items, including his complacency on crime. This afternoon, in broad daylight, a 14 year old boy was fatally stabbed on a bus in Woolwich. Will the newly knighted mayor appear on our screens tomorrow morning advocating something radical like "an immediate 2 year prison sentence for anyone caught wrongfully carrying a knife"? No. He is more likely to put on a sad face, express his deep sorrow for the boy's family and finish by saying that under him serious London crime has gone down. And he would have the statistics to prove it. |
