| My daughter was a constituent of his back when he was an MP and he was enormously helpful to her with an issue of some complexity devoting a huge amount of time an energy to the matter. She also found him to be very likeable with a good sense of humour. We remain very grateful to him so were very pleased to hear of his honour. Along with his long public service, he has had to deal with a large number of death threats including bullets sent to him in the post. I find it hard to think of a benign reason why some people have developed such a vehement dislike of him. |
