Dear Steve Thank you for contacting me about Brexit. After reviewing both Theresa May's Withdrawal Agreement, and listening to her speech to the House of Commons, I will be voting against the Government's Brexit Deal. To put it simply, I believe that this deal will leave our economy poorer, our businesses weaker, our nations more divided and our international reputation in tatters. Indeed, I'm deeply concerned about the impact that Brexit will have on the future of young people- many of whom were unable to vote in 2016 as they were not yet 18. I also firmly support a People's Vote on this deal, with an option to remain. It's only fair to give the public a choice between this Brexit deal, and our existing relationship with the European Union. For this reason, I believe that in a 2nd referendum the option to 'Remain' should be on the ballot. I will also support cross party amendments from Hillary Benn MP to ensure that we do not crash out without a deal. I will continue to fight in Parliament against this Brexit Deal, whilst making sure that the Government doesn't use Brexit as a means to roll back our hard won rights. Thank you again for contacting me about this very important issue. Yours Sincerely, Ruth Cadbury MP. Member of Parliament for Brentford and Isleworth. |
