| Not this one again? I have no idea where it will go over the next twenty years, and, at this stage in the game I couldn't really give a pair of foetid dingoes kidneys either. Whatever it's direction of travel though I would prefer us to have a hand on the wheel than be whinging impotently on the sidelines. On a more philosophical note it's instructive to observe the direction of travel, we've evolved from warring tribes, to warring city states to warring nation states to a collaborative multinational organisation that has ushered in a number of former dictatorships as new member democracies. Pulling up the drawbridge and retreating into our shells is ultimately a retrograde, regressive step. Inasmuch as it retards our growth, horizons, partnerships and standing it can genuinely be described as retarded in the purest sense rather than the pejorative term. |
