Tam Dalyell, Scottish Labour Party MP from 1962 to 2005 and from 2001, Father of the House of Commons, speaking on BBC2 Newsnight, June 29. Now, sadly, deceased. “MPs should have the balls to use their best judgement because Parliament is sovereign. If their best judgement, and I understand it is the best judgement of 450 or more, is that Britain should remain within the European Community they should have the balls to say so and vote accordingly. This is a matter of cowardice if they don’t.” |
