Austerity #2? We should be so lucky. And 9 countries have already said they'll block our membership, any decision requires total unanimity amongst all members, which is why there are some WTO cases that have been dragging on since the early 90's. For brexitards whinging on about "taking back control" and "unelected bureaucrats" hoo boy, you ain't seen nothing yet. Also the only country that trades purely on WTO Rules is Mauritania, and even they have a fishing deal with the EU. WTO is the absolute base case scenario for trading on which FTA's are built, and will see tariffs of 20-25% added to exports overnight, annihilating our car industry and manufacturing base, which, apparently is a price worth paying to avoid hearing a bit of Polish in the Post Office. Finally "WTO Rules" mandate a hard border in Northern Ireland, so it falls before it's even sniffed the first hurdle. |
