Oh ye of little faith! The battle is worth fighting! BTW, the 'original' original sign said, 'Lucozade aids recovery'. It was changed to 'Lucozade replaces lost energy' (perhaps for obvious reasons at the time tho' I never approved) but still with the 'iconic' bottle pouring the fizzy yellow liquid into a glass. Millions of people must have seen and welcomed the sign, knowing they were almost at the end of their journey. It should go back up. From what I've seen, the current replacement is hideous. Good that Steve Curran is, for once, following up on this. But can a company really take down one sign and put up another, without getting permission from the local authority? I remember a very sad planning meeting (Ruth Cadbury was chairman at the time) when a poor guy who ran an MOT testing facility was refused permission to erect a sign that would help people find his premises. At the very same meeting, permission was granted for the horrendous 'pod' proposed to hover over the M4 flyover. Not sure what's happened to that? |
