"Audiences are falling"

After a series of seasons when first Red Bull and latterly Mercedes were so far ahead of the rest that the only real contest was between team-mates, the competitive tension has gone - I remember waking up in the small hours to see if James Hunt could take the title from Niki Lauda in Japan, and other seasons when there were three or more drivers still in with a shout of the title at the season's climax. F1 needs at least four seriously competitive teams, and therefore eight drivers who can be expected to win races during a season, to regain its lost audience, whichever broadcaster has the rights.
