"..a new airport some miles north of London.." Cublington in Buckinghamshire was recommended by the 1970s equivalent of the Davies Commission, and rejected by the government in favour of Maplin due to the unacceptable impact on residents in the surrounding area. South-East England is one of the most densely populated areas in Europe and anywhere involving take-off and landing paths over land will negatively impact many people. |
