They do appear to have settled into being a protest party rather than a genuine party of government. Much like the Lib Dems used to be. They've retreated to pandering to their core support, exactly like the Tories did after the '97 wipeout. There seems to be an almost ostrich like refusal to see that you cannot win from an extreme left or right wing position, you have to lead from the centre, but hey, what would the only man who handed them three election victories on the bounce know about that? On a serious note no matter how subjectively amusing I may find them ripping themselves to shreds, objectively the country needs an effective opposition, and at the moment they are not in any way shape or form providing this, and don't look capable of running a bath, much less the country. |
