Bizarre to talk about 'unfair that they should miss out' when families in social housing (1.3 million homes) already have a golden ticket when compared to those in the private rental sector (9.1 million homes). I think this blatant electoral bribe will backfire badly. It might have been effective in the 80's when the private rental sector was a fraction of what it is now, but I imagine it will alienate people such as me who will never be able to afford to buy in London. Why am I so undeserving? There are an awful lot more people in private renting than social housing, and I suspect most of them, like me, feel a deep sense of injustice over this. |
